On looseleaf, draw a 5cm x 2 cm x 7 cm rectangular prism and find it's volume. Show work.
Bring play-dough to participate in a volume exploration activity.
The test is on finding areas of flat shapes such as triangles, rectangles, squares, trapezoids and parallelograms. You may use the chapter summary pages in the practice book to prep for the test.
Net surface area for solids:
1. Pick a solid shape such as a rectangular prism, a tetrahedron or any other. 2. On construction paper, draw its net 3. Cut it out and check that, when folded, it makes you chosen solid shape. 4. Unfold it and label dimensions (all important sides and/or heights). Use inches or centimeters as units. 5. Showing work on your net, calculate the area of each simple figure of which the net is made. Don't forget to square your units! 6. Add all the areas up to get the total surface area of the net, since the net is just a composite figure. Don't forget to show work and square the units. |
